The People Behind The Installation
As democracies worldwide face mounting challenges, communities across the globe are mobilizing to reform systems and reignite civic culture. TED is excited to bring these voices together to spark a new kind of conversation with leading thinkers, practitioners, and communities around the globe – focused on realistic pathways towards a more vibrant and equitable future.
TED Democracy | Our Impact Agenda
TED Democracy believes in the power of stories to educate and inspire. Through a catalytic TED-style event and by engaging our TED-Ed and TEDx communities, TED Democracy aims to:
help shift the narrative around the future of global democracy from a defensive, crisis-oriented story to an optimistic vision of a democratic future
accelerate solutions to support a more robust civic culture and more effective, representative democratic systems
contribute to a more collaborative pro-democracy community globally.
Let’s Create a Better Story
As democratic pressures continue to mount, our tent is only getting bigger. Join us in inviting more civically-curious communities into the movement by sharing this TED Democracy short film across networks and divides.
Super Weird Studios culminates a lifelong passion for graphic design and the arts. Collaboration is a natural part of creation. A collaborative passion allows for better art. At SWS I believe in being the "visual voice" for artists, communities, and individuals. Super Weird Studios works toward establishing an impactful mark in the world of creativity through digital arts and mixed-media design.
With previous work in art collaborations, journalistic magazine publications, and commissions SWS has developed a large portfolio that has sprung from the beginnings of hand-drawn illustration to the digital arts of Procreate, Adobe Creative Suite, and Affinity. Using the past and future to create meaningful and creative works of passion through multimedia design.

TEDx 2025
We are planning our seventh annual event on the evening of February 21st. Please follow us on our social media platforms to see our call for proposals. In 2024, our acceptance rate for speakers and performers was 3.6%. If you submit a proposal for our 2025 event, note that this year's theme, Liberation, is a significant factor in our approval practice. Tickets for the event will be available soon.
This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
TEDxBellarmineU
BELLARMINE TEDx TEAM & COLLABORATORS
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBellarmineU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBellarmineU event, live speakers spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Our program provides a supportive environment that promotes the rigorous investigation of craft, technology, history, theory, and individual conceptual concerns. Faculty are professional artists who serve students as mentors and advisors, providing hands-on instruction, fostering experimentation, and challenging students to articulate their creative goals and develop their artistic identity.
Small classes, internships, a dynamic local art scene, and study abroad courses all foster meaningful engagement with campus, regional, and global communities. The art department enriches our university and city through exhibitions, lectures, service, and other programming.
“Bellarmine is a close-knit community, and this is especially true of the art department. The supportive environment created by the faculty and staff played a role in building my confidence as an artist. I am thankful for the encouraging faculty members who emboldened me to pursue a career in the visual arts. In addition to my career as an exhibiting artist, the well-rounded liberal arts education and internship opportunities provided by Bellarmine University helped foster the transferable skills necessary for me to serve my local arts community as an administrator. Since graduating, I've served as Gallery Manager of Kaviar Forge & Gallery, Director of Communications for LOOK: Louisville Visual Art Inc., and most recently the Resource Development Director of Louisville Visual Art.”
Bellarmine University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctorate degrees.
Bellarmine Arts Department
SUPPORT & COLLABORATORS
The Bellarmine Art Department offers students the aesthetic training, technical knowledge, critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies that prepare them for careers in the creative economy and/or graduate study in the visual arts.
SUPPORT & COLLABORATORS
We fulfill this mission by providing opportunities that engage the BU community in Identity Exploration, Cultural Humility & Social Justice, while also providing a number of Support Services with our campus partners. Through this work, we not only help to create a more inclusive campus, but also provide the tools for our community to thrive in a diversifying world.
Office Of Diversity and Inclusion
SUPPORT & COLLABORATORS
The mission of the Dr. Patricia Carver Office of Identity and Inclusion is to develop and educate Bellarmine students, faculty, and staff on the power of their identities and their impact on the global community. We also serve as advocates on behalf of underrepresented populations, while promoting diversity, and encouraging community members to challenge their own personal narratives.
Design, Arts, and Technology Student Organization
STUDENT ORGANIZATION
The DAT Student Organization will be a hub for students passionate about Design, Arts, and Technology. Our mission is to create a space for students from all artistic backgrounds to network, share ideas, and build lasting connections. We would love to organize workshops, guest speaker sessions, and field trips to connect students with design professionals, artists and technology leaders. We would like to participate in exhibitions, design competitions, and student-run art shows to showcase the work of other artists. We would also like to represent student voices, advocate for arts programs within the school, and champion the importance of creative expression. We will encourage and facilitate cross-disciplinary projects, allowing others to learn from each other and push the boundaries of creativity.
